State and Federal Accountability
As with all public schools in Texas, La Academia de Estrellas is judged by its students performance on the Texas
Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) test each spring. We are striving to reach our goal of becoming an
Exemplary rated school through a number of internal initiatives.
During the 2008-09, 2009-10 and 2010-11 school years, our students made gains on TAKS relative to the previous
year. In 2010-11, the school performed at the "Recognized" level in Reading and Math. The school also met the
federal Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) standard during these years. In 2011-12, TAKS is being replaced by the
new STAAR test and consequently, there will not be school ratings from the state. Changes to the federal standards
are likely as well.
