Gracie Oyervides - Board President
Gracie is a parent who has chosen La Academia de Estrellas Charter School for her child's education and
brings a welcome parental perspective to the board.
Karen Davis, B.S. - Board Secretary
Karen is a Special Education teacher in the Duncanville ISD. She is currently working with students in a
self-contained Special Education setting. Karen brings a wide range of knowledge to the board as a
previous day care owner/operator. She has also worked as a project manager in a renowned architectural
firm.
Lupita Colmenero - Board Member
Lupita is the publisher and co-founder of El Hispano News, a Spanish language weekly newspaper, serving
the Dallas/Fort Worth Hispanic community for the past 25 years. She is also the founder and chairperson
of the Parents Step Ahead program, which aims to “recognize, educate, enable and empower parents to
take a proactive role in the educational and personal development of their children."
The next meeting of the La Academia de Estrellas board of directors will be February 6, 2012 at 5:30pm at
the Beckley location.
