Nancy Wright, M.Ed.-Board President
Nancy Wright has worked with and for the students of Texas for more than 30 years. Her
varied roles include that of teacher, counselor, special education counselor and diagnostician.
Recently retried, Nancy continues to consult with school districts on a part time basis.
Serving as the president of the board, Nancy Wright is committed to the establishment and
success of La Academia de Estrellas as a true choice in public education.
Sandy Ball, B.S- Board Member
Sandy Ball is a certified teacher in the state of Texas. She is currently working as a Special
Education teacher in Irving ISD. Her expertise is working with students who have learning
differences, including those with Dyslexia. She has over 20 years of experience in education
and believes that all students can learn and deserve the very best that teachers can provide.
Karen Davis, B.S. - Board Member
Karen Davis is a Special Education teacher in the Duncanville ISD. She is currently working
with students in a self-contained Special Education setting. Karen brings a wide range of
knowledge to the board as a previous day care owner/operator. She has also worked as a
project manager in a renowned architectural firm.
Gabriel Gonzalez-Board Member
Gabriel Gonzalez is the newest member on the board of directors. As a parent who has
chosen La Academia de Estrellas Charter School for his child's education, he brings a welcome
parental perspective the board. Gabriel works as a CAD manager at a local Architectural firm.
Holly E.Taylor, J.D.-Board Secretary
Holly Taylor is a licensed attorney in the State of Texas, with a masters degree in public policy
from the L.B.J. School of Public Affairs. She is an assistant district attorney for Travis
County. Years of volunteer work with the Houston Area Model United Nations and
involvement in the education for her four children has made her care deeply about the quality
of education in Texas.
